The GEEP is governed by an Executive Committee, Advisory Group, and Secretariat.
- The Executive Committee works to develop strategic direction for the initiative, in consultation with the Advisory Group.
- The Advisory Group provides direction for the GEEP leadership team on matters related to its management and operation.
- The North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE) serves as the Secretariat for the GEEP, and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the program, as well as serving as a member of the leadership team.
