Talia Schmitt

Co-Founder, Eco-Schools Leadership Initiative (ESLI)

Talia Schmitt is a student at the College of William & Mary, majoring in Environmental Science and Latin American Studies. Her passions lie in environmental education and food sustainability.

She co-founded an environmental education program, Eco-Schools Leadership Initiative (ESLI) where high school and college students educate elementary school students about the environment using interactive activities. The ESLI website www.eslileaders.org provides online environmental curriculum available to all who are interested.

On her college campus, Talia works as a Sustainability Intern for the College’s Dining Services and is currently involved in a project bringing produce from a local farm back to the college’s cafeteria. She has worked for Climate One, a SF climate change discussion forum, NatureBridge, Fairfax County Science Department and Environmental Film Festivals around the country. She enjoys environmental journalism and has published articles on food sustainability through the Pulitzer Center and her Eco-blog.
