Project: Animated Cartoon for Environmental Education: A Strategy to Inspire Action Among Youth in Batoke, Cameroon
Batkoke, Cameroon, has seen significant declines in it's sea turtle populations as a result of poaching and plastic pollution. Despite ongoing monitoring and environmental education efforts, local children in this coastal community have shown limited understanding of sea turtles and their conservation needs. To address this, the project aims to enhance sea turtle awareness among Batoke's youth by 50% by the end of 2025 using animated cartoons. This initiative will involve creating culturally relevant educational cartoons, engaging local children as creators, and integrating real-life stories from community heroes to make the content impactful and relatable. By combining storytelling with education, the project seeks to inspire and mobilize the next generation to protect their coastal environment.
